Pool Resurfacing in Ojai

Ojai sits in a sheltered valley inland from Ventura, with hot summers, cool nights, and plenty of oaks. The valley includes the small City of Ojai and unincorporated communities such as Meiners Oaks, Mira Monte, and Oak View. Many properties are rural or semi-rural, with pools set among gardens and trees.

Water and minerals

Water sources around the valley vary, and some rural properties use wells. Mineral-rich water can cause scale and staining. Test fill water before refilling a freshly resurfaced pool, and ask your plasterer about startup steps for hard or metal-bearing water.

Oaks and debris

Oak leaves, acorns, and pollen mean frequent cleaning. Tannin stains from sunken leaves are common on plaster. A leaf cover in the fall and regular skimming help a new finish stay clean.

Fire history

The December 2017 Thomas Fire burned around the Ojai Valley. Ash and smoke during fires leave residue in pools, and some properties had heat damage. If you bought a home that went through the fire, check tile, coping, and equipment closely.

City or county

Addresses in the City of Ojai use the city’s permit process; Meiners Oaks, Mira Monte, Oak View, and other unincorporated areas fall under the County of Ventura. Ojai also has its own design and character rules in some areas, which may matter for visible remodel work.

Distance

Ojai is a drive from Camarillo, and some contractors schedule valley jobs in groups. Ask about travel when you request quotes.
